Arsen is finally out of prison, thanks to Ryan, the closest thing he’s ever had to a father. Instead of going back to his old ways, he decides to make a real man out of himself and put his life back together. Being without Silke makes him realize just how much he needs her. Determined to be a man she deserves, he decides to be different than he used to be. However, Ryan makes him promise he’ll stay away from his daughter. It makes Arsen realize he’ll have to work for Ryan’s permission. But he’s up to the challenge.

Silke attends an art show and falls in love with a single painting on display. While trying to examine it, an interested stranger approaches, looking at her and treating her in a way she’s never experienced before. When she turns him down and tries to get away, she realizes he possesses a quality that she can’t reject.

Arsen is mine!!

It finally happened, Cayson is happy so I’m going to accept that and keep my mouth zipped on how it came about. The main thing is that they both have accepted the past is the past and they’re willing to move forward from that. All the heartache has to be worth it if they do genuinely put the past behind them and focus on what matters; which is their future together. Ward doesn’t help things but in that sense I think Cayson needs to back off a bit, jealousy is going to make things even more awkward than it already is.

Roland; well he finally acknowledges to some extent that his feelings have changed towards Heath. I mean I think the readers already knew that but I’m glad that they have acknowledged it in a way that makes it seems real. For those kind of feelings, it seems to be gradual and sneaks up on people. I’m glad it is being done in a time sensitive way especially when these feelings will be new and different.

Slade; my protective Slade. I’m so glad he decked his bandmate, some bandmate. I just love Slade. I think out of the characters he is one of those who has truly grown as a person. He sees love as something to treasure, he finally sees a future and doesn’t want to run away from it. I’m genuinely rooting for him. He’s epic.

Trinity’s fears come to light in this book but Slade just makes it all better and I won’t tell you how cos you’ll lose the swoon factor, just read it!!

Thomas; I like him. Theo however slightly annoyed but at least Theo is trying to sort it out, he’s making amends and I like to see that. It shows growth in his characters especially after what he did to Alex in previous books. I’m glad to see this changing and Thomas is a good addition to these books.

Arsen!!!! Woohoo! He’s second to Slade for me, I want him to get the ending he truly deserves and for me personally that ending will be with Silke, I see them as a forever couple, they have to be end game, please? I just can’t bear the idea of her being with someone else but looks like that might happen! I’ll keep my fingers crossed that it doesn’t! I’m glad that Arsen is going to prove himself, I have faith that he will and that he’ll get Silke back. He’s a firm favourite for me!!

Thoroughly enjoying this series !

It seems they are all settling down and maturing,

I am pleased for Skye and Carson now they see to have put the past behind them. I don't think its going to be forgotten anytime soon, but they are both working at moving forward.

Alex and Theo are working it out, keeping things going in the right direction too.

Beatrice and Conrad, are also going the right way, nice to see they too are putting the past firmly behind them too.

Uh Oh! Slade is heading for disappointment, i hope he listened to Carson, and that he doesn't screw things up. Trinity is so much more involved, even though it looks like Slade is 100% focused, there is something holding him back. Seriously hope that the band does not take him off course.

Good on Silke, Pike sounds like a nice guy, I hope she gives him a chance even though I like Asher, I think she has finally come to terms about how her and Asher would have been. I feel like Ryan and Janice have mixed loyalties, although it does show how big a heart they both have.

Asher is showing how remorseful is is, I'm glad he helps Janice in the house. He did great passing the school exam, I hope he stays on the right path and actually makes something out of himself. He deserves the kindness he is being offered. I am also glad he realises he needs to be in his daughters life, that is going to be a huge hurdle and I hope his emotional state is equipped enough to help him through that.

Just not sure how Silke and Asher are going to deal with each other when they run into each other!

Thomas is still full of pent up aggression and now it seems its directed at Rome, I firmly believe once he and his brother bury the hatchet and start on a friendship, then maybe he might loosen up a bit. There are may facets to Thomas's personality.

Loving the brief connections with the parents popping up here and there.

Roland, AHH, how emotional, I hope he finally works out what is happening and glad that he has Jasmine to talk to. Heath is being a really good friend, even though he wants more, its a tough transitional period for Roland. You can really feel the confusion he is feeling.

Clementine, whats her story? what is she hiding? Ward has been a gentleman, and he needs to bide his time; she is a nervous kitten, although fiercely independent, she is letting something from her past stop her from enjoying where her and ward could go and when she finds out about Skye and Ward's connection other than the work one, things I think might get worse before they get better.

Loving the direction all the storylines are taking.

This book is clearly my favorite even tears streamed down my face omg o felt so much thing my emotion was so deep.

I love Thomas a bit more than Theo now he was bully and now he's like batman when someone take advantage of other people he beat them if he should, I can't wait to know if he will forgive his brother and how he and Rone relationship will be in the future.

I find Arsen part so cute I nearly cried when everyone came to support him and testify for him and Ryan he's a good guy omg just thinking about all the scene between then my eyes water alone.

I rediscover Roland and I'm so proud about that character he drop out school to pursue his dream and even if he freaked out about what happen with Heath and hurt him he decided to try and I cried so much in that part because I swear if he tell his sister and Cayson about it they will never judge him ( I hope Conrad will be as Cayson when he thought Slade was Gay don't break my heart)

I found it cute when Mike told Conrad to marry Beatrice, it's so cute.

I can't wait to see Ward and Clementine as an official couple the girl deserve the guy because he's so gentle British Character melt my heart

Hasta dónde somos responsables ? Cuándo se deben de cruzar las barreras de uno mismo? Hasta dónde estaría uno dispuesto a defender su vida aunque se perdiera la identidad? Vale la pena la venganza? Existe algún tipo de redención ? Cómo se decide qué es moral cuando nada lo es? El psicoanalista no resuelve dudas, las crea y nos enfrenta a nuestra visión y nos cuestiona su validez todo esto dentro de un relato emocionante y atractivo. El libro capturó toda mi atencion y quería contantemente saber que seguía en la novela. Me sorprendió el manejo de la trama y como se desenvuelven las escenas.

Emocionante y perturbadora. A través de una excelente historia se logra comprender lo oscuro del ser humano y al mismo tiempo lo brillante de la psicología.

En una novela que uno no quiere terminar, John Katzenbach logra que el lector se emocione con el protagonista de la historia y su curiosa historia: un psiconalista acostumbrado a la monotonía, pero que en un día cualquiera, en una hora común y corriente, y en un consultorio absolutamente irrelevante su vida cambie, al recibir una amenaza de muerte muy particular.

Katzenbach logra que uno se estremezca, se estrese y se identifique. Además logra que uno ame a unos personajes y odie a otros, y al mismo tiempo hace que uno aprenda de la psicología y del comportamiento humano de una forma extraordinaria.

A bit flimsier then I expected. A little sturdier then construction paper. I thought they were self-adhesive my mistake and I will have to tape them to the wall. Deliver is very slow. 6 weeks.

Sets a new standard for biographies!

Truly one of the best biographies that I have ever read. The depth of research and humanity that went into O'Dowd's telling of Barbara's story is second to none. While others just try to sensationalize their subjects, O'Dowd surrounded Barbara with context and compassion. The biography was a very sad read, but only because of the utter tragedy that befell this once promising starlet.

O'Dowd's book shatters the mold for how biographies are written. It is clear he understood Barbara as a person fully before he ever set pen to page. This book will take you on a heartbreaking journey. You'll want to put it down at times just to make the suffering stop, but you won't be able to. It grips you and takes you up to incredible highs and down to the deepest lows.

I can promise you will never look at a troubled celebrity the same way again after you read this book. This book was a labor of love and once you read it, you will see why.

The Book That Brings To Life One of Hollywood's Most Complex and Tragic Personalities

John O'Dowd writes compassionately about one of Hollywood's most tragic figures. Barbara Payton was poised on the brink of superstardom when this beautiful, sensuous actress gave excellent performances in films like "Trapped" (opposite Lloyd Bridges) and "Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye" (opposite Jimmy Cagney). Yet little over a decade after appearing in these movies, Barbara Payton was a skid-row prostitute shuffling between homelessness and flophouses and charging as little as $5. This conscientiously researched biography brings Barbara to life in all her complicated and often contradictory splendor and squalor. We learn of the child growing up in a troubled family who is conscious of her beauty's effect on the other sex and also self-conscious about the trouble to which it can lead. We meet the adolescent who assiduously learns varied skills such as cooking and furniture refinishing. We meet the young mother who adores her infant son, the graceful and elegant model, and the supremely talented actress. O'Dowd pulls no punches (pun intended) when writing of the painful love triangle that led to the famous punching out of A-list actor Franchot Tone by B-lister Tom Neal -- an event pivotal in Barbara's career decline.
This second edition has the same info as the first but is an improvement because many of the photographs are larger and benefit from the size gain. It has also been freshly edited.
I cannot recommend this book too strongly. It is a powerful book that tells a story that a story that is at once exciting and depressing. Above all, it is the story of Barbara Payton, richly talented and tragically doomed.

This conscientiously researched biography brings Barbara to life in all her complicated and often contradictory splendor and squalor. We learn of the child growing up in a troubled family who is conscious of her beauty's effect on the other sex and also self-conscious about the trouble to which it can lead. We meet the adolescent who assiduously learns varied skills such as cooking and furniture refinishing. We meet the young mother who adores her infant son, the graceful and elegant model, and the supremely talented actress. O'Dowd pulls no punches (pun intended) when writing of the painful love triangle that led to the famous punching out of A-list actor Franchot Tone by B-lister Tom Neal -- an event pivotal in Barbara's career decline.
This second edition has the same info as the first but is an improvement because many of the photographs are larger and benefit from the size gain. It has also been freshly edited.
I cannot recommend this book too strongly. It is a powerful book that tells a story that a story that is at once exciting and depressing. Above all, it is the story of Barbara Payton, richly talented and tragically doomed.
