About the Author
Iain Hollingshead spent two years on the Letters to the Editor desk before becoming a feature writer for the Daily Telegraph. His more serious assignments included reporting on the student riots and the Occupy movement, as well as interviewing the likes of Michael Atherton, Martin Clunes and Nicholas Parsons. For two years he wrote the satirical 'Friends' column in the Sunday Telegraph, which imagined coalition life behind the scenes with Dave and Samantha, Nick and Miriam.

His less serious assignments have included taking a champagne bath in Las Vegas with six albino rabbits, spending three days behind the scenes at the Miss England competition, camping outside Westminster Abbey for the Royal Wedding, learning to dance in Mamma Mia!, training with the Royal Marines and experiencing a Brighton nudist beach first-hand.

He now writes freelance for the paper, teaches Politics and History in a secondary school in London and has edited six bestselling collections of unpublished letters to The Daily Telegraph.

As any Brit will know, The Daily Telegraph is one of our more right-wing newspapers. This book contains a collection culled from the Letters to the Editor section of the paper, submitted by the intelligent, the witty, the grumpy and the occasionally downright weird people who are part of the readership. The letters cover the period from the last general election in 2010 through our recent experiment in Conservative/Liberal coalition government, and give a great flavour of the issues and scandals that have exercised the minds of retired colonels and maiden aunts in the leafy suburbs of Conservative England. While I try not to discourage anyone from any good book, this one is really only for UK political geeks. Many of the entries are humorous, but a lot of them depend on the reader knowing the personalities and politics of contemporary Britain.

The selection is grouped under headings such as Goodbye Gordon, Chillaxing Conservatives, Swivel-eyed Loons, etc. If you don't get these references, then I suggest the book is not for you. However, if you do, from whatever side of the political spectrum you hail, you will probably find this as entertaining as I did. There's no doubt that Letters to the Editor has become a competitive sport in Britain with people vying to be the funniest or the most intelligent or the most condescending as their character dictates, and the result is some very fine humour, intentional or otherwise. The book is also a lighthearted reminder of some of the treasured political moments of the last five years - just the thing to read during the current general election campaign to remind us not to take it all so seriously. Buffoons exist on either side of the political divide, so at least while they're wrecking the economy and destroying our society, we can be sure our politicians will always entertain us...

Not very informative

The book goes into to many details. Simplicity is not this book. You would have to have been to school and licensed as a electrician to fully understand this book. The descriptive pictures are to old and not where the common person can relate. Been in this field for over 13 years, and if it hadnt of been for my expereince, Id of been lost. Thanks for reading.

About the Author

Carol Kranowitz, MA, has been a preschool teacher for more than twenty-five years. She has developed an innovative program to screen young children for Sensory Processing Disorder, and writes and speaks regularly about the subject. She has an M.A. in Education and Human Development. She is the author of the best-selling books The Out of Sync Child, The Out-of-Sync Child Has Fun, The Goodenoughs Get in Sync, Growing an In-Sync Child, and other excellent resources.

Jane Koomar, PhD, OTR/L, FAOTA, is owner and executive director of Occupational Therapy Associates - Watertown, in Watertown, MA. There they train university students and therapists in occupational therapy, and treat about 250 clients a week. They diagnose and provide intervention for children, adolescents, and adults with learning disabilities, ADD, fine and gross motor disorders, and autism spectrum disorders. She and her colleagues have also established The Spiral Foundation in 2002, to support continuing research on Sensory Integration Disorder.

I am a Pediatric Developmental Therapist and a mom. One of my children has Sensory Integration issues and I was looking for a way to help explain those issues to his preschool teacher. I feel this book is most appropriate for teachers who are looking to identify kids who they think have sensory problems. Over half the book is checklists for teachers. I wanted more explanation on what SID is and how to help children. Isn't that basically what we need? For people to understand what SID is and how to help the children impacted by it to function, learn and grow to the best of their ability. I also felt there was a lack of suggestions on how to get "optimal learning" from kids with SID. Most of the suggestions were geared towards older kids - "help the janitor," "carry copy paper from the storage closet to the office." Most 4 year-olds I know have a hard time doing those activities without supervision. There was some explanation about SID and some in-classroom exercises. It was just OK.

Wild Child is a short, light, sexy read with simple characters, and hot sex scenes that are well written.

The relations between step-siblings are seen as taboo most of the time. Very few people accept this type of relationship, even if there's no blood relation and there will always be people who will judge and condemn. Wild Child is a love story between Zoe and Matt who are step-siblings, not in any way related, who fall in love with each other. Matt, being more mature, recognizes the impossibility of such a relationship and leaves town hoping to leave behind the temptation, which is Zoe. But the wild child can't accept the fact that Matt doesn't sees her as a woman and goes after him. She almost gets what she wants when Matt comes home and finds in his bed a naked woman he thinks is his girlfriend. Big surprise there--it's not! He is determined to fight the lust for Zoe and tries to keep her at arm's length but quickly gives into temptation. After all, he is only a male and he lusted after Zoe for too long.

Matt's ex-girlfriend doesn't want to accept that her relationship is over and starts spreading rumors about Zoe and Matt. The two overcome these and even face their parents. I expected dramas before their parents accept their relationship or at least some consequences, but everything ends up all too rushed. They seem to believe that if they marry their problems will be solved by themselves. Nobody knows what happens, the story doesn't tell us.

Wild Child is a short, light, sexy read with simple characters, and hot sex scenes that are well written. My only desire: I wish this story was little longer.

A short steamy read.

***This books does contain a relationship between step-siblings. If that is something you are not comfortable reading, this is not the book for you.***

After realizing his attraction for his step-sister, Matt does the one thing he can do, he moves away so that he does not give into temptation. But Zoe has a different idea because she is tired of hiding her feelings towards him, she follows him. Trying to do the responsible thing, Matt tries to stay away from her, but that doesn't last because he does give into temptation.

I only had 2 small complaints with this book; the first one is how quickly Matt gave into his feelings for Zoe. It seemed as though the years that he had forced himself to stay away from her didn't matter anymore. He went from being standoffish to having a relationship with her overnight. I wish there had been more of a struggle on his part to not give in. The other thing would be the character development wasn't that in-depth. It was almost as though the sex parts of the book took over the characters.

I understand how some people are against step-brother/sister relationships, but I did like the fact that the author had thought to include other people's reactions to their relationship, not including Matt, Zoe and their parents. She included Matt's friends, coworkers and his boss. It gave it an almost real life perspective on it because that is something that couples such as Matt and Zoe would have to deal with.

Overall I will give this book a 3.5 Stars, rounded up to 4 :)

This is not my normal type of book to read, but I found it on NetGalley to read and give my honest review.

Not as wild as you might think

I liked the theme of this story but I agree with other reviewers, when little step-sister Zoe shows up at her step-brother Matt's home without warning and tries to seduce him -- a man who is eight years older than she is and has moved out of town and stayed away just to overcome his strong feelings for her -- caves almost immediately? Not likely. It would have been more interesting and certainly more realistic if he had fought his feelings for more than a few days. And the first time he finds her in his bed, he watches her play with herself for his benefit -- this is a man who is trying NOT to sleep with his little stepsister? Couldn't he try to overcome his urges just a little bit more? I think Munro could have done a bit more with Matt's internal, moral conflict. It would definitely make the story more interesting for the reader.

Readers ask: "Wait, shouldn't this be 2 books?" - Well...My answer: I actually was going to make this two books it but decided against it at the last minute and I don't regret it.When I first started writing this first book in the Baxter Family Saga, I had no idea I was breaking some rule about having two stories in one or that I was supposed to have two different books. The fact that I wasn't writing a standard story that worked towards a particular formula was one of the reasons they were interested. I just knew that I had a story that I liked and showed how a family's history can repeat itself in strange ways. I also felt that the idea of having two stories in one book like this was something I'd never really seen before.Some people have said, it wasn't done right, or it was supposed to be two books...I say, Unchained Hearts came out exactly how I hoped it would and the readers' responses have shown that. As a first book, I'm excited and grateful that I wrote it and that my former publisher, Beau Coup, thought it was good enough to publish. I have also been fortunate to have some great notes from readers who said they loved it and even asked me about the characters a little more...I LOVE THAT.Unchained Hearts is supposed to raise questions, it's supposed to have loose ends, it's supposed to make you scratch your head and question my sanity. It's also supposed to have a bit of a soap opera/Lifetime movie feel to it. Why? The thing about those two mediums is that you wind up losing time with them. I remember saying to myself, I'll just watch this one lifetime movie or a little bit of this soap. A couple of hours later, I'm wondering where the time went and why do I have to get up when something's about to get good. I have lost many hours watching Lifetime movies.I got sucked in and I like that.Believe me, I thought I was going a little crazy when I wrote it because it felt a bit scary and different. No family is ever that neat and tidy and the Baxters are no exception. The skeletons will rattle from time to time and may never stop. That's fine with me; bring on the bones, I say.So if you want to get the full understanding of the Baxters, check out Portrait of Gray and Story of Us. Then you'll understand just how much the Baxters have had to endure and why the crazy first story was just the beginning.Unchained Hearts is now on Pinterest! Wow, absolutely wonderful.

This was a recommended book and I didn't even read the summary before I purchased it. I was a little confused at the beginning when I was introduced to Kyle and then the story started about her mother. But as it started to get going, I completely forgot about Kyle until I was brought back to the present and then very much enjoyed going back into the past but this time being Kyle's past.

Wow, that is all that I can say. I have read many books with twists and turns that keep me on the edge of my seat, but the way it was portrayed and introduced with how it was beautifully written, this book takes the cake. One of the best books, hands down, that I have read this year and I look forward to reading more from this author.

Two love stories in one!

This is the first book that I have read by this author and i will definitely be seeking out more to ready by her. There is so much more to this story than the typical boy meets girl etc. The author gives a glimpse of how race relations were in the early 70's. She illustrates how it wasn't just the white people that had to adjust to the changes. That was fascinating to me. I don't want to give too much away because this is tale that is full of interesting twists and turns and I feel that it would be wrong of me to give "spoilers". Suffice to say that this is a very well written and gripping book with characters that are east to relate to.

This one is a keeper...

I must admit I didn't initially like Lila when the story started and I wanted to skip the first few chapters because it dropped back some years to when Cass and Lila met BUT I admit I grew to like them. The beginning made Cass and Lila make since especially given the interracial dynamic. Cass and Lila could have had their own book but reading their story would later parallel into the story of Kyle and Randy (who knew and what a surprise) which made the whole story make sense. As others have mentioned this is two love stories within one book and for me I would not have cheered for Kyle and Randy if I didn't read Cass and Lila first. I won't give the stories away but this is a well crafted book with interesting characters that the more I read the more interested I became in what happened next. I will definitely buy the 2nd installment to hopefully catch up on characters that have been introduced and perhaps more background on others that had a small part in the 1st book.
